 I can’t believe it’s almost here, time to head out on our “Teacher Fieldtrip” to Chicago. Eleven days of fun, work, & education! I am so excited! It has been a long hard year creating a new curriculum without any books, resources, and only minimal support from the district. But now, 3 more days (2 with kids & 1 checking out) & I’m off on another adventure!   

What can I say? I’m looking forward to the food! How about experiencing history hands on! I want to see all the “stuff” that I’ve been reading about as I have gotten ready for Chicago. Are the stockyards still around like in Denver or is the history preserved in museums? What about the old “cathouse” district, do any of the original buildings & furnishings still exist? What about the Mob made famous by Al Capone, will we see & learn anything about that? I want to see it all, learn it all, and experience it all!!!

What about labor history, how much will we learn? Immigration, unions, railroads, westward expansion; there is just so much to see, so much to learn, so much to experience, I just can’t wait!!! I’m sure we will see a ball game, but hey, who scheduled this trip when the Cubs aren’t in town??? Shameful to be sure!

Well, enough for now. It’s time to start packing for the third trip of a lifetime. Look out Chicago, the “KING” is on the way!
